Celebrating One Year of Pilot Experience at FlyGuys

It’s been one full year since we launched the Pilot Experience (PX) department at FlyGuys. As the connective force between our growing pilot network and our mission to provide white-glove, real-world data capture, PX has become a cornerstone of how we empower and support pilots across the country.

 

Jerimiah – Leading the Pilot Experience Department

Jerimiah’s journey into the drone industry began with a simple gift, a $30 nano drone from his dad one Christmas. That small spark ignited a passion he couldn’t ignore. After upgrading to an Inspire 1, he set his sights on becoming a professional drone pilot, undeterred by early skepticism about the technology’s capabilities.

Through years of hands-on flying, relentless trial and error, and a determination to prove what drones could achieve, Jerimiah built a successful career in the UAV industry. Nearly a decade later, he now serves as the Manager of Pilot Experience at FlyGuys, where he channels that same drive into supporting, training, and developing pilots across the network.

His vision is to create a thriving community of skilled pilots who are empowered to grow their capabilities, take on complex missions, and help shape the future of the drone industry.

Year One Highlights: Milestones That Matter

Over the past 12 months, the PX team has introduced major improvements and processes that have transformed the way pilots join and grow within the FlyGuys network. Some standout accomplishments include:

  • Nationwide Pilot Network growth
    We’ve welcomed a wave of new pilots into the FlyGuys ecosystem over the past year, thanks to the launch of our automated onboarding system. This streamlined process has made it faster and easier for pilots to get mission-ready, without unnecessary friction.

As our network continues to expand, the PX team has been instrumental in upholding quality standards while supporting sustainable growth.

  • Demand Planning Process launched
    One of the department’s biggest wins has been the development of a strategic demand planning process. By forecasting where pilots are needed most, we’ve been able to:
    • Activate and onboard key pilots in high-demand areas.
    • Revive inactive or lost accounts, bringing experienced pilots back into the fold.
    • Optimize readiness for missions by aligning recruitment with customer demand.

       

  • Automation meets personalization
    While automation has been a game-changer, the PX team hasn’t lost sight of the human element. From tailored communications to resource development, every pilot touchpoint is designed to create a supportive, responsive experience.

     

  • Pilot Tips: Now in Video Format
    Bringing training to life, we reimagined our written pilot tips into engaging video content with Jerimiah because clear, accessible information is critical in the field.

 

Year Two: Looking Ahead

With a strong foundation in place, year two is all about pilot development and education. The PX department is focused on arming our pilots with the resources they need to level up their capabilities and mission success. Key priorities include:

  • Pilot Development Programs
    We’re creating structured paths for learning and advancement so pilots can grow with us from basic missions to more complex, high-value jobs.

     

  • Training Videos
    Expect to see a full suite of on-demand video training modules covering equipment best practices, mission protocols, and technical workflows like LiDAR, RTK, and GCP use.

     

  • Training Documents
    We’re rolling out a comprehensive library of downloadable training docs and guides to support pilots at every stage of their journey.
